Updated: Aug 29, 2021

"The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, A refuge in Times of Trouble"

Psalm 9:9 (KJV)

Trauma is referred to as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder in the world of psychology. Referred to

as PTSD, it occurs after a traumatic incident happening in a person's life, such as the loss of a

loved one or undergoes an accident

This can hit as flashbacks of the incident, where the

individual feels as if they are reliving that moment again and again. It affects their ability to

perform well in their lives, which hinders their daily lifestyle activities. Also, their ability to feel

contented and in peace with life is disturbed.

A person experiencing PTSD may feel symptoms like:

● Flashbacks of the event

● Nightmares and disturbing thoughts

● Avoidance of reminders and triggers

● Fatigue and lethargy

● Panic attacks

How to Overcome?

With care and trust, PTSD can be resolved. It may take some time, but with ongoing care and

attention, the symptoms of PTSD can pretty much be managed effectively. There are specific

ways of managing the condition, including behavioral counseling, guided meditation, and

medications in severe cases.

Meditation for PTSD

Like all other mental health conditions, PTSD can also be managed by including meditation in

the treating regime of the patient affected with the condition. Guided meditation and visual

imagery are some of the important techniques used in meditation to help the individual facing the symptoms of PTSD overcome it.

Foods for PTSD

There are certain food items that you can include in your diet to strengthen your brain and

improve your mood. These include foods rich in omega fatty acids such as fish liver oil, olive oil, and other plant oils. Moreover, seafood is also considered helpful for the brain as it helps

regenerate the brain cells. Including nuts and seeds in your diet will also help you to strengthen

your mind. You can also consume bananas and milk regularly to increase the happy hormones in your body. A person undergoing PTSD is encouraged to eat a well-balanced diet to improve their symptoms of PTSD.

Bible Verse for PTSD

"Please hurry, Lord, and answer my prayer. I feel hopeless. Don't turn away and leave me

here to die. Each morning let me learn more about your love because I trust you. I come to

you in prayer, asking for your guidance" Psalms 143:7 - 8 (CEV)
