Anxiety!

Updated: Aug 29, 2021

'Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with

thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God—Philippians 4:6"; anxiety is a mental

health condition affecting numerous people around the world.

It usually roots from overthinking, uncertainties about the future and worries about past mistakes resulting from living our best

life. Instead of living in the present, a person with anxiety is trapped in the vicious cycle of

pessimism and uncertainty, which affects their lives considerably.

Some of the prevalent symptoms of anxiety include the following:

● Palpitations

● Difficulty in breathing

● Memory and concentration problems

● Shaking of limbs, especially the legs

● Frustration and anger

● Nausea and vomiting

How to Overcome It?

It is possible to overcome anxiety by doing some lifestyle modifications. Cognitive Behavioral

Therapy, for example, helps to target anxiety and set a new mindset, one that is healthy and

doesn't let us drown in the vicious cycle.

You might be able to practice things such as meditation, visual imagery, and grounding

technique. All of these practices help you feel at ease when you are feeling anxious about a

situation. In emergencies, you can try doing rhythmic breathing. You can also count backward to divert your attention from the thought that is disturbing you in some way.

Simple Meditation Techniques

Meditation stands as a powerful way to fight against anxiety attacks and generalized anxiety in

individuals. Here are some simple meditation techniques that can help you get out of an acute

anxiety situation.

Visual Imagery – Visual imagery means imagining an object as you close your eyes and do

rhythmic breathing. You bring your focus on the thing you are trying to create – this hones your

creativity and brings all your focus on that thing. People mostly imagine creating candles in their

brains for that order.

Metta Meditation is helpful when your anxiety revolves around a person or group that increases

your anxiety. You can help in improving your positive feelings as you work on your kindness for

those people.

Food to Reduce It

Certain foods may help you feel more at ease and therefore help you alleviate your chances of

getting anxiety. These include oats, barley, and bananas. These foods contain a good amount of

antioxidants and help you feel balanced. Full of nutrients such as vitamin B6, vitamin B12 and

known to improve serotonin levels in the body, you can consume these foods to deal with your

anxiety symptoms.

3 Famous Bible Verses About Anxiety

Here are some of the famous verses from the Bible that will help to reduce anxiety

● "When the righteous cry for help, the LORD hears and delivers them out of all their

troubles." Psalm 34:17

● "Therefore, I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you

will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Isn't life more than food and the

body more than clothing?" Matthew 6:25

● "Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous

to be moved." Psalm 55:22
